Photos of the Melilla border fence - deterrent from the outside, protective from the inside - were woven into three-dimensional panels.

Consisting of soft terry cloth - as cozy as a freshly washed towel - these lengths of fabric hang from the ceiling and force visitors to repeatedly push against them. The visual experience is thus enhanced by a haptic one, and the ambivalent function of the fence as a protective wall and (deadly) demarcation can literally be experienced. The terry cloth material was not chosen at random. It evokes associations such as "washing your hands in innocence".
