Sunday morning at Lampedusa

Sunday morning at Lampedusa
The city beach of Lampedusa

It has rained and it is windy. By local standards, temperatures of 19 degrees are really uncomfortable.

Lampedusa has a population of just under 4,000, and in summer there are up to 25,000 tourist beds. But that is over in November.

Nevertheless, this morning is a busy one.

The Sunday church attendance is on the agenda.
The pedestrianised Via Roma leads to the sea with small shops, restaurants and ice cream parlours. The tourist season has come to an end and more shops are closed every day.
But there is still plenty of choice for buying the Sunday “Dolce”.
Stores selling daily supplies are also open on Sunday mornings.
Children play in front of the school, which is closed today.
Others prefer to spend their time with the latest village gossip...
... or, like everywhere else in the world, with their cell phone.
