An Arrival
Cala Pisana, Lampedusa

The boat carrying 62 Syrian refugees arrived at noon. They had set off from Sfax in Tunisia, braving the unpredictable waters of the Mediterranean in search of safety. As the boat neared the shore, my heart raced. I felt an overwhelming sense of joy - joy that these people had made it, joy that they were about to set foot on solid ground after a harrowing journey.

As they disembarked, their voices filled the air. They cheered with relief, their faces glowing with a mixture of exhaustion and joy. Some even knelt on the ground to give thanks for their arrival. It was a deeply moving sight.

Lampedusa's shores are not just a destination, but a symbol of survival against overwhelming odds.

Every landing like this is a stark reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the immense tragedy these people have faced. As they set foot on the land of Lampedusa, I couldn't help but feel a deep, almost overwhelming desire to give them the peace and stability for which they had risked everything. Their arrival was a powerful symbol of survival, but it also marked the beginning of a new, uncertain chapter for them.

May they achieve their goals and aspirations.
